Import/Export (Overview)

 

This topic summarizes the import and export capabilities of the RC-WinTrans software.

 

The relevant commands for importing or exporting data into or from RC-WinTrans can be found in the File menu as well as in the Project toolbar,the Dictionary/TM menu and Dictionaries toolbar.  The individual operations and supported data types are summarized below and described in greater detail in related help topics.

Translation Projects

Data can easily be exchanged between RC-WinTrans projects with import and export operations.  Implemented as a means of supplying a(n external) translator with a translation project and importing the translations upon return.

Translated Resource Files

Import data from a resource file that has already been translated into an RC-WinTrans translation project.

Dictionaries and Translation Memories

Export translations from the active translation project into a specified dictionary or translation memory, or import data into the translation project using a dictionary or translation memory as the source.

Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets (.xls)

When Microsoft Excel spreadsheets (file extension ".xls" or ".xlsx") are the desired format, use the import and export functions to transfer data between an Excel file and an RC-WinTrans translation project.

Used to import data from a TMX file (.tmx) into the active translation project and to export translation project data into a TMX file.
