Dictionary Results Bar

The Dictionary Results bar displays the complete list of translations found for the current source text as the result of a find translation operation.  This is text found in a dictionary, translation memory, or other available source such as the Machine Translation Add-On for RC-WinTrans.

 

Initially the Dictionary Results bar is coupled with the Translation Edit bar (tabs in the same window- see figure below) but it is a separate view that can be moved and sized according to user preferences.

Features and Use

Find Translations

Search active dictionaries for translations for the text entered in the edit field near the top of the view.  This will be the source text for the item selected in RC-WinTrans by default but any text

any text can be entered in the field to run a search on it.  To start the search press the ENTER key or use the Find Translations command button (shown here, right).

Additional options for working with dictionaries and the Dictionary Results bar are available in the drop-down menu opened by clicking on the down arrow part of the Find Translations command button (see the description under "Drop-Down and Local Menu Commands" further on).

Dictionary Results List

Translations returned by the search in active dictionaries are displayed in a table in the main part of the view (see figure).  Results are numbered and include the found source and target pair, the match value (expressed as a percentage) and the origin (where the translation was found).

Use the command buttons at the top of the Dictionary Results bar to copy or apply a translation.
A menu with commands for working with dictionaries and the Dictionary Results bar can be called up with a right mouse click in the list of results (described under "Drop-down and Local Menu Commands" further on).

Copy Translation Commands

Copy a selected translation to the Translation Edit bar or to the clipboard using the command buttons at the top of the Dictionary Results bar.

Drop-Down and Local Menu Commands

Additional options for working with dictionaries and the Dictionary Results bar are available in the drop-down menu that is opened by clicking on the down arrow part of the Find Translations command button and in a local menu that comes up with a right mouse click on an entry in the list of dictionary results.

Find Translations Command

Opens the Select Translation Data Source dialog where all currently active dictionaries are listed.  Here you can select a specific one in which to search or confirm searching for translations in all the dictionaries that are available.

Data Sources Command

Opens the Data Sources property page where the available data sources for inclusion in the find translation operation can be viewed and set according to user preferences.

Find Options Command

Opens the Dictionaries property page in the Dictionary/TM dialog where settings related to searching in dictionaries and saving translations in them are determined.

Edit Entry in Dictionary Command

Opens the Edit Translation Unit in Dictionary dialog where the currently selected item can be edited and changed in the dictionary.

Delete Dictionary Entry Command

In the Dictionary Results bar's list of found translations, removes the currently selected item from the corresponding dictionary.

Reset Columns Order Command

Resets the order of the table's columns to the default positions.
