The Machine Translator Window

 

The main window of the Machine Translator is the primary interface for finding, viewing and working with translations delivered to RC-WinTrans by the Google™ Translate, Microsoft® Translator, or DeepL Pro online machine translation (MT) systems.  The window has an edit field for the source text, a display for the translation text, and commands for finding and using translations from within the RC-WinTrans localization environment or directly by entering the source text in the Source field.  A display for messages/output is also provided.

Window Elements

Source Text Edit Field

The text entered in this field is the source (search) text for the active MT system to translate.  The field automatically shows the source text of an item that has been selected in RC-WinTrans but text can be entered here at any time by the user.

Translation Text Field

The translation returned by the selected MT system for the text in the Source Text field above it.  A search is performed automatically whenever an item is selected in RC-WinTrans or by clicking on the Translate button.

 

Toolbar Buttons

 

Google MT

Enables Google Translate as the active machine translation system.

 

Microsoft MT

Enables Microsoft Translator as the active machine translation system.

 

NOTE ON USING DEEPL PRO:  To enable DeepL Pro as the active MT service, use the Menu toolbar button and select the Use DeepL Machine Translator command.

 

Translate

Press this button to translate the source text.  Pressing the "Return/Enter" key while the Source text edit field has the focus will also execute the Translate command.

 

Copy Translation to Clipboard

Copies the translation text to the clipboard.

 

Translate RC-WinTrans Item

Copies the translation text to the Target edit field (Translation Edit bar) in RC-WinTrans and saves it as the current item's translation text.

 

Copy Translation to RC-WinTrans

Copies the translation  to the Target edit field (Translation Edit bar) in RC-WinTrans.  Note that the text is NOT saved as the translation for the item selected in RC-WinTrans- to save it you must confirm it (OK button) in the Translation Edit bar.

 

Mark All Machine-Translated Texts in RC-WinTrans

Sets a (temporary) blue dot marker ( ) for texts that have been imported/
automatically translated using machine translation.  For tips and additional information see the "Temporary markers..." entry under "Tips and Additional Information."

 

Menu

Opens the menu to display all available commands.
