Target File  (Definition)

"Target file" may refer to:

1.

A translated file created by RC-WinTrans.

A target file created by RC-WinTrans is always an exact copy of the source file in which only translatable source data is replaced by the translation text that has been entered.  Being (essentially) a copy of the source file, a target file has the exact same format as the source file.

Typically one target file is created for one target file.  There are, however, certain exceptions, as when translating database content where the source file (the database) is also the target file.

Multiple-language target files are another exception where only one target file containing a number of target languages is created.

2.

An existing translated file (created prior to use of RC-WinTrans).  Text from an existing translated file can be imported into an RC-WinTrans translation project to reuse translation text.
